I got hit with the extended side mirror on a big ass truck a while back. Me and my bike went down and she slid on her side ripping off the shifter. I still have the bar sticking out where the assembly clamped on, and it blew out the anchor right outta the bottom of the casing. Is the a shift I could use that doesn't need to be anchored down? I know this is retarded but I have vice grips I've been using to shift it. It now goes down one to neutral and out of neutral, if I pop it up one its Ide like to say second. Doesn't go below neutral or above second. Wtf is wrong.? AND are there any buell heads in the oklahoma city area??

Do yourself a favor.... Download a service manual and look up how to replace the primary cover. While you're at it look at the parts associated with actually shifting the transmission. Sounds like something inside that beat up primary cover is bent or out of place. Shouldn't be very hard to fix. Especially once you open up the primary cover and have a good look at what's going on in there.

If the shift rod that goes through the primary cover gets bent, it won't return to center and that will stop it from ratcheting up to 3,4,5… How easy does it move?

Also, take off the primary cover and use a flash light to look at the end of the shifter rod behind the clutch basket. You should see a pawl with TWO small springs on it. Make sure they are both there and the ends are hooked up to something. You can operate it with the primary cover off and see how it turns the shift drum from there.

I agree check with PaulPud, he is indeed a good guy and probably has all the parts you will need . PaulPud is very fair in his pricing.

sweet you guys are awesome I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I will this Saturday coming up I have a feeling that's what it is because when I look right at the shifter rod it does have a slight bit into it not bad but it is there definitely probably going to need a new one shifter assembly all that my other question wasn't answered though so I'll ask it again possibly someone that knows what they're talking about could answer it is there a shifter that does not need to be anchored down I'm not a super rich man so getting a new casing might be a problem for me
