So there is this bike within a couple hours of me, but is salvaged. Says it is good mechanically, but has a cracked instrument cluster, need headlights, and has a broken peg. He is asking basically blue book from a dealer price. I was thinking of offering him $1000

What worries me is that the frame looks to be way too nice of condition to be salvaged, yet the swingarm is a darker looking color. Makes me think the frame has been repaired and repainted.

Ok, found this bike on Ebay, 08 XB12SCG with painted frame, subframe, and swing arm like the 09-10. Yellow plastics, and a gutted stock muffler.
Talked to the guy and he agreed to $3850 shipped from NY to AZ good deal?

There are a few things that are red flags to me... And quality of a build, paint means a lot...

Congrats on the purchase.
I was a little worried about the paint, but I feel like it is still a good deal, even if the paint is hiding any problems.
