    Hello all

Sorry for a new "no start" thread. Searched tremendously found some help but now stuck.

    New to buell.

99 lightning. Working on it for a friend. Had intermittent no start and misfire when it did.

Replaced cam position sensor. Checked for spark and fuel. Reset tps with ecmspy. 5.3° closed throttle.

Adjusted cps so fuel pump kicks on when timing mark is in the middle.

Now wont start at all. Cranks and will occasionally hicup but no full start. Will eventually backfire from exhaust if continued crank

    Thats about all I got

Seems like a timing issue due to the backfire but not exactly sure.

Any ideas or help in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes at first. Very black. Cleaned them and tested for spark by energizing coils with ecmspy. Both seemed to have a strong bright spark

you should sell it or cut it up for the recycler and go jap. don't forget to relinquish your board credentials if you do.

i have a 2003 XB9S and when i turn key on it wont start. A little backgound- new ECM, new battery. Fuses all good. if i turn key on, all all lights light up. Fuel pump comes on and then i hit the ignition switch , nothing happens.
Any ideas anyone? its gotta be something simple.

Check starter relay and all the wires coming out of the ignition switch.

Starter Solenoid may need reworked. Check your Connections at least first. PUT bike Rear Wheel up off the Ground PITT Stand helps to keep things safe..
Either Clutch Safety Switch is bad or Starter Solenoid or Relay might need checked. Check all Fuses in the system. NEVER replace a fuse with a Higher Amp Fuse than the required one needed.
You can temp., bypass the Solenoid With a Fuse linked Wire from Battery Positive side to the Starter Motor itself. ALWAYS Check to make sure the Transmission is in Neutral..Make Sure to learn which is your Starter Solenoid wire and the Electric Motor wire. TAKE YOUR TIME. .Jimi
