cross thread front axle

Anyone ever cross thread the front axle? Putting on the new ebr front rotor, I'm pretty sure I did. First few turns went great, then got harder and harder. It was halfway in before it really got hard. Now I'm all the way in but it was a bitch.

Assuming I need new scg forks?

Only options are to tap the hole and chase the threads or buy new stuff. That's about it my friend. You have my deepest sympathies.

Are you positive? Did/can you back out the axle?

Yes I can back it out. It's all the way in right now, bit I can take it out.

Are the pinch bolts completely loose? Are the threads clean? I know you had problems with seized fender screws thats why I ask.
