I'm about to place an order for front and rear wheel bearings (from All Balls) and was gonna replace my tensioner bearings also and was wandering what size to get I read somewhere that it's a different size for 03. I'm about to hit 20k on her and am gonna replace the belt with an O.E. one is that the right option. Thanks and hope to see some of you guys in April at the Tail
In the service manual, there's inspection criteria for the belt. 20k is peanuts on the belt, however given the age of the belt it wouldn't hurt to replace. The new belt part number for the '03 is: G0500.02A8R made by Goodyear replacing the original Gates which is known for snapping. But, I put 66,600 miles on mine before replacing it and that was over 2k miles ago.
The service manual is what is telling me to change the belt. 5k inspection and replace at 15k I know folks have gone alot further on 03 belts but this bike was parked for a long time (before I had it) it only had 3600 miles on it a year and a half ago(I also weight about 230 so 16k with my big ass has gotta be hard on it). And oh9bolt I hope you meant to link me to a specific site and that was not just your way to tell me to "Google it" cuz I did that already but I found the size on Buells Downunder 17id x 40od x 12 gonna order them today hope they are right.
Thanks for the info guys and it's gonna be close to 60 and sunny tomorrow here in Middle TN so hopefully some of you guys will be able to get some miles in also
'03 belt is specific for the year model, 155 tooth, 11mm pitch
