So I have an '04 xb12s got it fires up and rode it home from storage last night. Went to fire it up today and it starts up.. Gets almost to idle rpm and shuts off?? Any thoughts what it could be??

Just put a fresh battery in. Stored over winter. But now...I thumped my hand on the fuel tank a few times.. Tried it again..and it ran like nothing was wrong.
Maybe it lost the TPS setting with a dead battery for so long?
Ride it normally and let it idle on it's own (if it will), and the computer will probably adapt.
If not, do a hard TPS re-set.
Well it idles and runs just fine now. All I did was thump on the fuel tank and it started normally.guess I'll have to see if it does it again.
Hm, id do a few runs close to home and see how she does.
the ecm does not "lose" any settings from sitting. what you probably did was bring the fuel pump to life...or the pump has developed early stages of chafed wires and hitting the tank/frame affected the chafing. if it does it again i would advise removing drain plug...draining frame...and removing pump for servicing. it takes a pair of 3.5X1/8th viton seals..I thumped my hand on the fuel tank a few times
