Need to take kickstand off...didn't know if bike could be set up on a milk crate overnight while I fix it

    Has d&d exhaust on 04 xb12r.

Stock yes. Lift points are marked on the muffler.

As for aftermarket you'll have to look it up on their page or call.

D_adams is that opinion or personal experience? If i ruin this exhaust my bike will be out for at least a year before I could afford to replace it. Just want to be completely sure before I do it

The d&d pipe was designed to be able to jack it up by the exhaust.

Well, if you're that worried about it, remove the exhaust and lift it by the engine then. Only takes an extra 15 minutes (at most) to remove it.

why lift for a kickstand job? put block of wood in front of front tire and to rear of rear tire. go to your ceiling and screw in a 99 cent J hook. mark center of top triple clamp on ceiling and install each hook outward 16 inches from center mark. run a tie down from each hook to rope or soft strap attached to each grip wrapped around soft cloth. now X the tie downs. in other words left hook holds right side and right hook holds left. cinch up the tie downs till bike centered and you have it. works like a charm everytime. ya....i know.....landlord doesn't want **** screwed into his ceiling.:D

Or, spend $100 and get a decent rear wheel stand. I have PitBull for both front and rear, I wouldn't bother with trying to work on stuff without them. Best $$ I spent on the bike in many years, had them forever now.
