soooo lately my check engine light has been coming on and off while im riding... the only thing i feel the bike doing is loss of power when i accelerate at any speed. i can tell there is more umph behind it but it feels like its bogged down or restricted somehow... i do get some backfire sometimes when i let off the throttle completely as my bike drops in RPMs.... what should i do?!?!?

    What is the code?
Do you have either Tunerpro or ECMSpy?

Your symptoms could have a large number of causes. Knowing the code will help. My best guess would be a poor electrical connection in any number of areas, including the connector(s) at the ECM, or at one of the sensors. Could also be a faulty sensor or voltage regulator.

Could it be a bad interactive valve (exhaust). Servo or disconnected cable?

Damn. I was hoping I didn't need the cable... I don't have it nor the software nor any idea how to use those things...

Cam- you can check the code by shorting a couple pins at the ECM.
    Or something like that.
Look in your service manual or google how to check Buell CEL codes. From what I understand you short a couple pins, count the amount of times the CEL flashes and that number corresponds with a specific code.
Anyway, do a little research and you'll find it's not that difficult.
BTW there are a lot of great folks on the board. You might want to post city and state that you're in and you might get lucky. Another Bueller in your area might be able to hook you up.
If you plan on keeping the bike for a long time do yourself a favor; buy the cable and down load the software. It more than pays for itself the first time you use it!

i have posted this dozens of times. use this link to read up on running your own diagnostics. will point you in the right direction. your access plug on R is up in fairing area. if you find that your ecm has stored 1 or more fault codes and not comfortable how to proceed or minimal mechanical abilities seek out a local knowledgeable buell tech. these things can be tricky to diagnose and correctly repair ergo the hundreds of annual posts on here referencing fault codes and their proper repairs.
