I've actually been daydreaming about doing the exact same thing.
Been thinking of trying to mount a Givi E30 Topcase to my Lightning for longer trips. Don't like wearing a backpack.
Tried searching to see if anyone done it before, didn't come up with any real results though... Since this topcase comes with a mounting assembly, I figure I can fabricate a bracket to mount it to my seat.
Anyone see any flaws in my thinking? Or, have a better solution/idea? I'm not a fan of the Ventura racks myself and I would like a hard case solution that doesn't cost a buttload of money.

Look on tmart i got one close to that size for 39 shipped I believe. And that model you can find cheaper. Good luck, or look for a helmet trunk bag, they have vebcro straps that make it easy to install without much work, and lots of room, i found mine on sale at cyclegear
Here's a shot of the test fitting. Trying to determine if I want to fabricate a mount myself or purchase a pre-made mount...
veryy niceee
I've got a extra GIVI top case.... if anyone cared.

Here's a shot of it installed. Used the Ventura mount with their new rack mount. Works great with the top case. Sets a little high for my taste, but works...
