For piece of mind I'd replace the basket/hub. I'm not sure how secure that snap/lock ring fits in there now but I wouldn't want the clutch coming apart while riding.
So I'm a tard and managed to chip a piece of metal off removing the lock ring holding my clutch pack together (http://imgur.com/TOsg2AW).It's a small piece, I was wondering if it's just scrap now or whether I can reassemble it and just throw a new lock ring on keep using it

The snap ring has a inner retaining ring to keep the snap ring from coming loose with pressure from behind to keep the inner retainer in place.
As long as the snap ring isn't located in that area I imagine it'd be fine.
The edge of the snap ring was located where it chipped, which is where I was applying pressure to compress and remove the snap ring. The rest of the places where the snap ring is held is okay, but if you guys recommend I replace the whole basket/hub assembly I'll definitely do it
What I ment to say is if the gap (circled in red below) is located away from that snap 180 degrees off or so, I wouldnt be too worried about it. It looks like half the landing is still intact. But with all things like this your going to get different opinions. Will it work sure, if it were my bike would I get another hub maybe once I found one.
I know its not the actual snap ring, just a pic to show what area I was talking about.

I had the same condition with my S1. I replaced the hub. A couple guys on the board have a lot of parts. Just post a WTB post and they'll hit you up.
Thanks for the advice. I'll go ahead and try to get my hands on a replacement hub
