I had that problem with one of the torx screws, I drilled it out.
I removed my plastic belt guard today and behind the plastic there is an aluminum belt guard. Those who removed belt guard, did you removed this aluminum piece?
I tryed and of course... I striped (don't know if it's the good word) the thorx screw...

yesdid you removed this aluminum piece?
Running the bike without the belt guard is not wise, IMHO.
I left my Lower gaurd on and removed the upper......Why you ask? Im to lazy to remove the rear wheel to do it.
I removed all three pieces. No problems or rear wheel removal necessary.
I guess Im lazier than I thought...lol. One point of my lower still being on is that I do sometimes encounter roads with more than normal debris on it.
I really like the look of the naked belt without all the plastic. But that's definitely understandable.
And yeah, those Torx screws are a bit weak. And non-magnetic, BTW (found of when trying to fish one out of my fan with a magnet...). Stainless?
I removed my lowers 4000 miles ago and have had no issues and looks such much cleaner without them. IMO
