Painting frame without disassembly?

Can the frame be painted without a complete disassembly and look good? I'm starting to plan out my small frame repair, and since some painting will have to be done anyway, I'm wondering if it would be a good time to change from the light grey frame to black. It would be going to a shop.

I had this plan as well... but finally (just a view days ago) I decided NOT to paint but to apply vinyl wrap... desert Camouflage... lets see how it turn out.

I've asked the same question, and my friend who is a painter said he can tape it up and do it! This was after we pulled my seat off and had a look at it.
I want to do the exact same thing eventually, I want the silver frame gone lol
I read somewhere you need to be careful with painting the swingarm, so I'm thinking of just buying a black one eventually and black forks.
will be costly but look sexy with more black

Meh. If you're going to paint it, then do it right the first time or regret it later. Its not easily reversed.

It's like 10 bolts to completely seperate motor & swing arm from the frame, I suggest that approach.

Single person with mostly basic tools & the buell tool kit can do it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not ready to do it just yet, but I'm considering all the options.

UMD, it isn't so much the 10 bolts - it's knowing how to put it all back together afterward. Lol. Who knows - maybe I'll take my time and try it.

yeah. I painted both mine just by taking the tail and the airbox off, took the foot peg brackets off too, then I masked the motor and whatnot ... taking the front end and the swing arm off makes it even easier. If you choose to use Buell touch up spray paint of he same color its a snap.
