Ok a question for the experts on here. My brother and I are leaving on July 1 on a 6 day trip. I'm on my XB 12R, he's on his Benelli 1130 Cafe Racer. Mine works great, he's having coil stick problems. 4 to 6 week delivery for the part. My question is...is a coil a coil? looking at pics there's a ton of similar looking ones. GSXR, Ninja, whatever. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Almost any one that fits, should work just fine. If you want to be super, super, technical get one with the same Ohm specs as the original.

Most are supplied by the same company for many, many different makes of bikes (and old cars).

the major difference is the shape of the boot that covers it and how it interfaces with the valve cover/head assembly and the connector

Aren't the XB coils just a regular weatherpak connector? Sorry too lazy to find the manual:)

coil sticks from triumph 675 triple are direct interchange.
delphi part # 597094 direct interchange
both will require splicing of wiring plug to make work which is simple task.
both readily available on evilbay for cheap.

So here we are, something like 4 hours after I asked for help and I've got excellent answers. I knew the Buell crew would come through. We'll be all over the dealers tomorrow looking for these parts. Failing that my brother is picking up a used GSXR 600 part tomorrow. $35 Canadian. I'll get back and let you all know how it turned out.

    Thanks, Wayne

Well I said I'd get back to you guys. GSXR 600 coil installed and working great. Cooter we checked resistance and the coils match, thanks. Lunatic we're picking up a Triumph coil on our way through Toronto to take as a spare just in case. Thanks for the help, the guys on this forum are the best.

my pleasure wayne and have a safe enjoyable trip.
PS-now that you and friend know the appearance and plug style of the benelli coil you can go online/evilbay and type in triumph 675 triple coil stick and see the match.

We will be running through Lake Placid NY, Burlington VT, over to Crawford Notch NH on July 2nd, around Mount Washington on the 3rd and back to South Colton NY on the 4th. A quick little ride around Tupper Lake and area on the 5th. We caught sight of a Lightning there last year but by the time we turned around he was gone. If any one is around our route keep an eye out for us. Pics to follow.
