OK. I took some measurements and tests and today I've finished the CAD file for the highway foot pegs brackets

The idea is use these left and right brackets and mount them above the primary cover and the oil pump cover in the same covers screw holes (the same way as LSL or 5o-dro engine protectors) for 2008-2010 BuellXB. The brackets have the same foot peg fixtures as the passenger foot pegs. So you can relocate the passenger foot pegs on the highway foot pegs brackets or just buy an extra set of passenger foot pegs. The highway foot pegs will be retractable (as the passenger food pegs) so you can just fold or unfold them depends of situation.

Here are the foot peg brackets on the motorcycle

Here are the foot pegs brackets when you are leaning with sharp angle. It looks like they have enough room for leaning.

I use standard spacers and screws from MCMaster Carr. The left bracket has pretty long spacers, I think it would be better to make the spacers and the bracket as one part from one big aluminum chunk. But in this case it will be pretty big chunk and pretty big expensive milling work.

The exhaust pipe will be covered by heat shield because the right highway foot peg is pretty close to the exhaust pipe.

So the next step is create the bracket drawings and throw these files in a local machine shop.

I see someone else is an engineer. I love the idea!

Only issue I see is the mill work involved. That would be an expensive piece of billet. In my opinion, using 1/4" or 3/8" aluminum plate cut to the dimensions then have the holes drilled and tabs welded would be much more cost effective.

I do not know what a machine would charge for a one off job but it would be pricey. Much more expensive than the aluminum plate. They you have the cost of acquiring the aluminum billet will be pricey also.

Better make sure the pegs fold back instead of forward. Cool idea. Be nice on an Uly.

great idea! I hope you can get this idea produced at a reasonable cost, I think a lot of us would buy it. I used to ride a road king and the only thing I miss is the relaxed riding position!

Although there is a certain convenience of using what you already have for foot pegs, it seems like it would cost less and produce faster if you were to use some kind of universal foot peg like this for example: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Rect...ATCHING_ACTIVE
you wouldn't need to weld anything or waste a really think piece of aluminum. Just my two cents...

I like this idea, but I would like to match the footpegs to Buell footpegs stylistically.

Here is a list of spacers and screws for these brackets:

    2 screws 1/4"-20 Thread, 1-3/4" Long http://www.mcmaster.com/#90044a124/=y1163s
    3 screws 1/4"-20 Thread, 3-3/4" Length http://www.mcmaster.com/#91251a087/=y11642
    1 screw 1/4"-20 Thread, 3-1/2" Length http://www.mcmaster.com/#91251a556/=y1164c
    3 spacers 1/2" OD, 1-1/2" Length, 1/4" Screw Size http://www.mcmaster.com/#93013a823/=y11adh
    3 spacers 1/2" OD, 3/8" Length, 1/4" Screw Size http://www.mcmaster.com/#93013a805/=y11bqp

I think you can get all those parts from Tractor Supply for cheap. Have you found someone to do the milling or are you doing it?
