I think the real kicker is that only 3 ppl have poled as using the oil that came in the bike!! (me included) Possibly not wanting to give our friends at harley more $?

I thought the XB's came with non-synthetic Harley oil as the standard fill.

I did an oil change at my Harley dealer once, but I bought Amsoil with me for the mechanic to fill it with. When I took out the Amsoil, the guy at the service desk flashed me a look of pure disgust and said, "That is the worst oil for your bike." I didn't say anything, they filled it with the Amsoil. Ever since I have been doing my own oil changes.

I doubt there's any substantial reasons one is better or worse than the other. I'm surprised you don't run syn. In the big bikes, my dad has in his heritage since new.

    Motul is a great oil.

    I use 7100.
    5100 is also good!

300V is quite expensive, and i think not so much better than 7100. But 300V is the best oil you can buy.
