gloom, I think you are confused as to what I was saying. The race is the piece that is press fit into the frame of the bike. The bearing is the part that slides over the triple tree stem, and it should not be press fit.
I'd torque them. I torqued mine to what the manual calls for. Also recheck after a hundred miles or so after they really seat in.
It's been a while but I believe mine would fall off too if I turned the stem upside down. But there wasn't any play when tights.

o geez.....now i dont know what either of you are saying! lol
nonetheless, after i made the 'repair'to the stem, there was no more play or knocking.
thats why i was curious about other stem measurements.

im all about efficiency...and that stuff is very efficient. lol
i prefer tripels and quads though.
but its not fair that Karbach brewery is walking distance from the office. lets just say i have collected a.......lot.....of glasses. we go every other week on friday after work.
