Very nice! I wish I knew more about older buells
Found one after a long search but it's mine now.
15k miles, mostly original and pretty well taken care of. Now just to get it home!

Thx CJ, I know next to nothing, this is my first tuber
Check the isolators (front and rear). Run the belt loose. Badweb has a lot of tuber owners over there with a lot of knowledge available.
nice looking tuber...hit up pur pony for tuber info, he's got the best looking tuber I've seen
Thx Dean and Robin, I definitely need to go through it and check it over. Got it home today. The isolators look good and belt tension is about right, but the shock is done and needs a rebuild. I need to tune the carb for the elevation difference (5000 ft here) as its def running rich.
looks nice
The best way I found to adjust the belt is to use a motorcycle tie down and a straight edge. On my X1 remove the seat run the strap over the subframe and fasten to both sides of the swingarm. Tighten the strap until the axel swingarm pivot and center of countershaft are aligned. That will be the tightest the belt will get in the travel of the wheel. I give it a little less than 1 in. at that point. It will be what others call scary loose after the strap is removed and no weight on the bike but you wont be replacing the countershaft bearings at 20 thousand miles.
Very cool, thanks, I'll give it a shot. So that's close to rear max compression with around 3/4" deflection in the belt at that point?
While we're at it, anyone care to comment on a preference of shock choice? Penske, Works? I'm positive I won't be rebuilding the stocker. I'm leaning toward the 8983 for street use, although I admit that I don't know exactly why. I will most definitely NOT be tracking this bike but would still like full adjustability.
