Oil leak... need tips on how to get started

ok guys, noticed the other day I have a slight oil leak from the front of the bike (2005 XB12S)... it's coming from the forward top of the head, more or less. The attached photo is the best I can get of the area. I haven't taken the tank cover off yet, and honestly don't have much experience on this bike, so I wanted to see if anyone has a good guess on the cause based on the photo and can give me a starting point for reading the manual and beginning disassembly.

It only puts out a couple drips right after a ride, but I'm also looking to sell the bike, so I need to get it resolved quickly, or at least have a good idea how big a deal it is.

    Thanks!

rocker box/cover leak, use isopropyl alcohol or degreaser to clean the area off, run the engine or go on a short ride to pin point the leak. order a top end kit and do both when you have the engine rotated. while you're at it replace the wire form holding the clutch cable, those are prone to breaking.

Liked thrstrmech said rocker box gasket . It is not hard to do if you follow your manual.

you'll be needing this info then. IMO James gasket sets are top-flight.

    1.5-2hr job, including rotating engine.

get good at it......they like to leak there.

hylomar or permashield for added precaution
