LED stripe tail chop from stock tail

Today I am going to show you how you can chop your stock tail to install the LED stripe Integratorz premium kit

    Take your stock tail

Prepare 3 mm aluminum plate. I ordered the plate here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o03_s00

    Strip down all tail parts

Keep the tail license plate light, it can be useful if you are going to relocate the license plate to the swingarm side.

Grind down the aluminum casting channels

Mark 35 mm line aside the tail edge

Mark the cutting profile on both sides

    Cut the line

    Cut the side faces

Finish the edges with grinding tool

Grind down the inside aluminum casting channels and bumps

Cut long aluminum plate stripe with necessary width and bend the stripe. A used a metal pipe, a couple of wood blocks and a couple clamps to create bending tool.

    Fits like glows

Mark the contour and cut the new tail bottom

Use metal wire grind brush to remove old paint and prepare the edges for welding

Weld the bottom with the tail. I asked a local welding shop to weld it for me.

The next step is grind the welding seams down and fillet the edges

For the LED conversion I ordered the LED kit http://www.radiantz.com/en/products#...kit/p/39306225 with smoked color tube and one Dual Element Circuit for Z-Flex http://www.radiantz.com/en/products#...lex/p/39306179 for 65-125 LEDs range. As I understand the Dual Element Circuit for Z-Flex is just a resistor, so you can use a resistor to connect wires with Run and Brake lights.

The welding seams have been grinded down.

The next step is cutting the LED stripe slot. I'm still waiting my LED kit so I do not know exact sizes.

The Integratorz premium kit is in my hands. The kit includes the flexible LED stripe, the D-tube, the resistor (Dual Element Circuit) for run-brake lights and the plugs for the D-tube. I need to cut the LED stripe and the D-tube for necessary length. The LED stripe divided on sections, each section is 0.6 inches length and has 5 lights. The LED stripe should be splited only between the sections and have an even number of sections to split the turn signals in the middle. 14 sections length is enough to embrace the tail curve.

Here is the back side of the LED stripe. As you can see it has soldering lines between the sections. The LED stripe should be shortened along line between sections. In addition I need to split the "Y" soldering line in the middle of the LED stripe and solder an extra wire to split the turn signals.

Today I've finished the slot for the LED.

Notch the LED stripe by file along the cutting line between the sections to keep only 14 sections

Finish splitting by blade. The rest has 6 sections and can be used to create front turn signals.

Split the yellow wire in the middle and solder the the second yellow wire with the the "Y" contact in opposite side of the LED stripe

Split the "Y" contact in the middle of the LED stripe for the turn signals using a small drill. So you have 7 sections of yellow color for each turn signal on the left side and on the right side.

Trim the D-tube to place the LED stripe in it and plug it with the plastic plugs.

Heat up slightly the D-tube and curve it around the tail

Mark the place on the tail to cut the slot for the LED

Drill holes in the ends of the slot

    Cut the slot

    Grind the slot

The LED tube fits like gloves

The next step is create a support bracket for the LED tube.
