    I think an obvious miss here is that your friend "decieded to show off". Gear, yes, is important, but I think the true lesson behind this post is that you should ride safe and know what you can and can't handle. I've been riding motorcycles now for 5 years. I had one spill, and it was low speed dirt road riding. (I no longer have friends that live on dirt roads).

    Stay safe, and keep the rubber down.

    True midnight, but had he been "showing off" with All the Proper Gear on, his bike would still be screwed up, but he probably wouldn't. I think the point we're all pushing is When you eventually hit the pavement, no matter what's at Fault, No Gear = No Forgiveness.

    I was about to say that too midnight. without the showing off, nothing else would have happened -in this scenario anyway..
