Question about potential purchase

Hey guys, been a while since I've been here. This week I'm going to check out a 20091125 CR and I wanted to ask you guys about things to look for. The owner tells me that the charging system has been upgraded. Is there any way to visually verify this without taking stuff apart? Bike has 16K and looks pretty well kept. Thanks in advance fellas.

Ask him what was done to "upgrade" the charging system. Harley fitted a "harness" to shunt away a leg of the charging that is an iffy fix at best. Best known way to fix is get an oiling rotor and some people also put a different style regulator on the bike. No way to check for a oiling rotor without pulling the side cover.

Look for any fluid weep at the clutch (right side if sitting on bike) they arent as bad as the early bikes to leak but they still do (my 2009CR did) easy fix as long as you have some skill with a wrench.
