    Progrip/TechSpec airbox protector

    Hi all,

I'm getting a new airbox for my XB12Ss and am thinking about adding a protector to help keep it from scratching. Maybe something like a Progrip (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...-grip-tank-pad) or TechSpec (zhttp://www.twistedthrottle.com/techspec-gripster-set-for-buell-xb12x-ulyssess-xb12ss-stt-lightning-snake-skin). I did some searching for folks using these on their Buells and found some info, but not a lot of recent discussion. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Check out Hammergrips, you can make your own custom shape.

+1 for the Techspec grips. I have the buckle, airbox and frame grips.

Another +1 for techspec grips. I have them on every bike I own and haven't looked back. Also after a couple years in the Vegas heat they have not moved at all.

    Thanks, all!

In looking at the techspecs page, they only seem to advertise for the airbox and frame grips. Did you just buy material and cut out the buckle protector yourself? That is really the part I'm most interested in.

Fatty...I'll look into the Hammergrips as well. I guess the only real issue is that I would need to do the whole template thing. Anyone else on a Buell using them?

No, there is a precut buckle guard. Give them a call. I think it was approx $20-25.

Anybody ever try this 3M Scotchguard? I like the idea of it being clear, and it is only $22 for a 3 piece set.

I have it on my Harley, fairing, bags, tank, etc. Does a good job. Only thing I don't like is it is real hard , if not impossible, to get boot scuffs off. And bugs on the fairing don't come off easily either.

Thanks, Bruce! I'd only be getting the pieces for the airbox, so I don't think boot scuffs will be a problem. Was it difficult to apply? And, does it come off without damaging the plastics?
