Actually had to look this up... not sure how I feel about this.
IMO I think they will hold up in the event of a Buell laid down.
The guy in the video has me a little concerned. Surely you don't want steel rod or cap nuts getting into the mix, it might not be sliding at that point. Plus I'm not sure the composition of skateboard wheel plastic is of similar hardness designed to support an event.
Meh. I hardly think durometer is a huge factor. Sliders are for a minor get-off, not a major wreck... and any protection is better than none. My cheap-assedness thinks it's good idea! But they should be neon colored like my first Santa Cruz board had (in the 80's). I'm using skateboard wheels on the case sliders of my STT.
BTW if you are really feeling experimental... the wooden topped cork from a bottle of 1792 whisky fits in the rear axle really well, you have to trim for the front to fit and of course you'll need four bottles of the good stuff...
#dontdothat
I'll have to keep this in mind for next winter, I figure by the time spring rolls around, I'll have the four caps.
Waiting to see all the skate punks trying to use axle sliders for wheels.
I am thinking of these for my RED SX Good price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262903217496...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
