Some good info can be found in this old thread:

Exactly the thread I found last night. I have the part number, will call the local HD dealer today and see what they have.
    Thanks as always.

Now can some kind knowledgeable person explain to me mechanically how a worn clutch drags as opposed to slipping
All my other bikes have been either dry clutch, or traditional wet clutches which only slip when worn.

Ok, I am most certainly NOT a knowlegaeble person but I'll give it a shot...I'm thinking a worn clutch dragging as opposed to slipping
is kinda like a torque converter in a car. I mean the oil in the clutch pack may be locking it up. The serrations on the clutch plates on a wet clutch " fling" the oil out of the pack allowing it to lock up. If the serrations are worn off the oil clings to the plates and locks the plates up even with the clutch lever pulled in. Again, kinda like a torque converter. I'm sure I'm totally wrong on this but I gave it a shot! lol.

Could be a warped/damaged pressure plate, disc or steels.

It's broken - fix it and see if there are any other symptoms. Hard to diagnose something that is already broke

HD want R2884.00 for the fibre plates, a direct conversion would put that
at USD 200, except that they have no stock.
So Barnetts ordered, and if all goes well, I'll expect them
around mid December. So in the meanwhile I'll use it as is
once or twice a week, but its the GSA for the rest. I'm not getting
much use out of this bike this year it seems.

Make sure to get frictions and steels.

Yeah steels are readily available, no problem to get them.

So just as a followup and leading on from Racepro's post, and since I wont have he new plates for
several weeks, I took a chance on exploring the oil locking it up theory.
Using a dremel tool with cutting wheel, I made cuts on each disc at the points where
the segmentation would normally happen. Assembled it all again, and viola, I have
a functioning clutch again. So there seems to be merit in your theory Racepro, thank you
for that. If it gets me through the next few weeks, I'll be a happy man.

Just as a final piece on this saga.
I've been riding the bike for roughly a year like this, and in the past month its started dragging again.
So this week I replaced the clutch discs and we all back to a fully functioning clutch.
I noticed the pull on the clutch lever is lighter as well, I assume this to be because the spring
is flatter when the clutch pack is thicker. Anyway, case closed.
