What is this wizardry?

So both headlights blew out and the hi beam indicator light stayed on. I messed around with the wiring looking for a short and found nothing. Finally unplugged the hi beam bulb and the lo beam came back on and the hi beam light on the dash went off. I've never seen a bulb with a single wire. Is this something I can find at my local parts store?

Yep. It is an H3 bulb.

Thanks. It had Germany stamped on it. Thought I was going to have to special order some $200 light bulb.

I have another question I just thought of. I'm used to the bulbs having a two wire connection and this uses one wire with the base being the ground. It looked like there was one ground wire running between the two bulbs. If one bulb blew out would it kill both and trigger the dashboard hi beam light?
