SX electrical draw
2014 SX #24, currently 1300 miles. Bought 'new' in March '17.
Since I got her, she has never liked to sit
Any more than 5 days and she'll crank slow and not start. The battery tests fine once charged up, but I know Buells well enough to consider getting a new one anyway
Checking for a draw I found 2
The big one I traced to the dash display itself. I can remove the power wire and the draw goes away. Is that a software update thing? Its 7/2/2017 so I don't think anyone gets help from EBR anymore
The other draw flickers a little bit and goes away when I unplug the EBR ECM. I will try the stock ECM next, but that still doesn't solve the dash issue.
I'd appreciate any ideas you have

Just a simple test, Discount your Batt for 5 days and see if it losses it's charge being isolated form the SX . Being your bike sat for a few years could have been bad on the Batt, might not have been on a tender for the duration of time.

It's a draw for sure. Got a chance to check it with a DVOM. 1.5 amps total is a lot!
But with the SX sitting for a long time (2014), and with this draw I bet the battery was dead most of the time, AND having Buell DNA... you're right. I should get a new battery anyway. It won't fix it, but might last longer?

How long did you measure 1.5A for? There may be a circuit inside the cluster or ecm that stays "on" for a set amount of time and then idles down to less than 1.5A. It for sure is high! I would think 500mA is still high for a bike that is off.

Thats a good point. The DVOM was on for 10 mins or so with the same reading while I followed the circuit diagram and took apart the front end to get to the cluster plug so with that and the drained battery I figure it's still an issue.
If these 1190's were more common I could swap with someone for a minute to see..................

Yeah - then I'd say you have a problem
