Can't really ask for more than that, I'm sure you will keep it going .

Buy it. Ride it. Just try to wipe the shut eating grin from your face.

I was finally able to give the Ulysses a short test ride.

    My initial reactions:
    1. It's definitely a tall bike. More noticeable was the really fat tank (that isn't, I guess). I'm 6'. I can straddle it with balls of the feet on the ground.
    2. Its volume is noticeable and rumbly at idle.
    3. The throttle is wayyyy sensitive.
    4. Riding position is comfortable.

The bike definitely has a lot of power, probably more than I see myself needing within the next couple of years. That said, better to have power and not use it, than the other way around.

Really, though, the thing I'm struggling with is the throttle, which I'd characterize as downright twitchy. I had little success (during my short ride) at getting a smooth acceleration in gears 1-3. I tried to rotate it as gently as I could, and "launched" forward at every attempt. Is this something people learn to deal with, or is there an adjustment possible, or ... ? I really don't want to put myself in a dangerous situation because I'm getting more throttle than I expect.

I also found the vibration in the left peg noticeable. Anyone else observe this?

As a new rider I noticed the same thing. Running a ground cable from the ignition coil to battery frame ground helped smooth things out a bit in the low gears.

I'm 5'9 I can only touch my toes if both are on the ground, can barely flat foot with one foot. You get used to it.

I feel my clutch control skills have gone way up, mostly from rush hour traffic in the city so yes it has power but it is manageable. For the first couple weeks it scared me but now I know to expect it. What surprises me now is how it takes off if I dump the clutch while already moving. holy crap!!

As for the noise and vibration, I love it!! What I love more is when I cruise at about 3500 rpm or higher and the vibration seems to smooth out but still hum. Still vibration in the pegs but like I said I love it.

What does the ground cable modification do?

Does the peg vibration ever make your foot go numb?

Right now, I'm trying to figure out whether the $3950 price for a Ulysses is worth it or not. That's "out the door", and includes new tires. The bike doesn't have any of the bags, though. It's also missing its windscreen. It's an Indian dealer that's had the bike for a while, but don't get the impression they want to flex on the price.

Apparently it smooths out the throttle at low speed. Forgive me if I'm wrong lunatic could probably give the correct answer. It seems the engine is not the best grounded which can cause misfires?? Or poor running at low rpm, this adds another ground point to keep the engine grounded.

It hasn't made my foot go numb but I do mostly city commuting with a lot of start/stop type riding so my feet come off the pegs often. As for the windscreen I think it's ugly so i took it off plus I like feeling the wind hit me. Headwinds at highway speeds are a great workout. Just have to find something to cover the holes with...

The x didn't come with the bags but there's a guy on fb parting out his so you could probably score some there. The price seems alright compared to what I've seen but I'm no expert on the used buell market. Honestly, yes I've only ridden one other bike besides the msf bikes (tested all three they had) this bike is so much fun it hurts. The roads suck in my city but she handles the bumps and holes like a champ. Maybe it's my inexperience but gravel with that torque on road tires is tricky. I paid about 5600CAD for mine if that helps, private sale.

Went to my truck mechanic the other day, found out they have a Harley specialist there. Guys in his 60's been working on Harley's most of that time. I asked him to take it for a rip and see what he thinks. He came back 20 minutes later with a huge smile on his face. Asked what I paid so I told him, he said great deal. He went on for a bit about all the things he liked, the list was pretty long. Also disclaimer, my x was babied by the previous owner. He bought it brand new from the dealership and had everything done by them. Hope this helps!!

My 08 ully does none of those things ? Or is it that I don't notice ? My throttle works fine, it's not twitchy at all, maybe it's because I also ride a Triumph explorer, which is very twitchy ( electric, no cable ). I don't notice vibration in the foot pegs either, go figure ? Love the bike ! I'm 5'9", 29" inseem, and can flat foot one foot with a slight shift of the butt to one side or the other and still touch the ground with other foot. Pretty much the same with the 07 SS, thoroughly enjoy riding both when I can.

Maybe that is why I don't notice the vibration, vvvvvvvvvvvvvv, because I don't get numb !

The throttle on these are easier to turn than lets say a Harley or even an older jap bike, but twitchy.... you want twitchy jump on a ducati in sport mode! Possibly the issue is you're not used to i high low end torque motor? would suggest using less throttle/ revs when taking off. Allow that 1200 to chug up to speed. Throttle cable adjustment and proper tps setting can also play a roll in "touchy ness"
As for your vibrations, yep they vibrate. I've never gone numb from it though.

Well, I thought the 2006 Ulysses had been sold -- I had been out of touch, and a text to the sales rep had gone unanswered.

However, he called me yesterday. In short, he still has it. "End of the month. I'd like to get it gone."

The current "out the door" price of $4k seems too high, even with the new rear tire. Thoughts on that?

And, would I regret the 2006 versus the 2009 (second gen)? There seems to be at least some feedback on them internets that the 2006 had some glitches that were addressed in the second gen.
