Thread: Won't run more than about five seconds.

Won't run more than about five seconds.

So bike starts right up and idles fine for about five seconds, then dies. If I start it and give it throttle, it will throttle up normally for about five seconds, then die. After it dies, I can hear the fuel pump whizzing for a few seconds like it does when I normally turn the bike on. Can you give me a list of probable causes? Greatly appreciated.

Does it run exactly 5 seconds each time? If it stops uneven check injectors leakage according service manual, clean injectors.

If engine stalls abruptly check plug wires, switches, replace relays.

It doesn't die abruptly. Just slowly dies.

Not like that. More like it runs out of gas.

2004 XB12R w/40K miles. Race ECM. Not sure of the exhaust. Bought it a year ago and ran fine.

If so this is fuel delivery issue. Check injectors leakage, clean them.

That was my first assumption. Would the TPS just suddenly go bad?
