I would upgrade the boots to motorcycle specific boots. Work boots are not going to offer you the same protection as a motorcycle boot in the event of a crash.

If you are looking for a Kevlar liner, Draggin jeans makes one. But they cost more than a nice pair of riding jeans.

Hood jeans is closing out their current line of jeans to meet the new European spec. So they are selling it for 20% off. I have heard great things about them.

When I don't wear my main riding pants, I currently ride with either some Slider Kevlar jeans or Aerostich Cordura lined jeans. Neither are great compared to my regular riding pants (Motoport Kevlar mesh over pants), but they work when I have to go to a design meeting and want to ride. I do like the removable armor in the knees on the Aerostich pants, it has zippers on the outside, so you can pull the armor when not riding. I am tempted to pick up a pair of Hood jeans to see how they compare.

Are far as boots. If you like Vans, Bates makes some riding shoes that are on close out at Iron Pony for not much more than a pair of Vans. I ordered a pair to see how I like them.

Get a heavier jacket for the fall and winter. I have read good things about Fox Creek Leathers and have seen them go for downright cheap money on Ebay.

I agree with you Grego. For everyday commuting and working construction, nothing can beat price, $89, and practicality of a steel toe, steel shank, and water proof work boot. From my experience of getting hit by a 2002 Chevy full size crew cab commuting to work, it saved my foot and possibly more in this instance?
Also prevents stump toe and passes the slog test, what more can you ask for from a boot:

I can get off my Uly and operate a bulldozer, excavator, or key board without any wardrobe changes.

Wow! Tons of info, appreciate that. I'm sort of fond of my Speed and strength jacket. It's got Kevlar and armor (Back, shoulders, and elbows). Its got a zip out liner for colder weather. It seems legit, I got it from Revzilla and watched the vid and read the reviews. I understand it is not a leather race piece but it was affordable. I don't ride a ton. I was hoping someone had some good luck/usage of an under layer. Something like this: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...re-armor-pants

I agree here. I wear my steel toe wp. Etc work boots when I ride to work. I don't want to have to change and there is no way I'm wearing $200+ boots in a body shop! Look at the over spray!20171116_160849.jpg

I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do. I am just saying I had a buddy who went down while wearing Timberlands and, when it was over, one foot had a Timb and the other had a sock.

I've been down a few times, and I swear by leathers. With leathers the most I've ever gotten are small bruises. As for rain gear, I wear rain gear over my leathers and it has worked great.
