Hello,
I have 2009 Buell XB 12 Scg. Anyone knows which tape is on the wires loom in the engine compartment on this motorcycle? It looks like the tape on the wires in this area is significantly aged and chipping and falling apart due to now it is fragile thin plastic film. I would like to remove the old tape from that area and apply new fresh tape, but I do not know what kind of tape is it. I believe it should be high temperature tape since it is routed near hot engine parts and even touches it.

I'm going to bet you'll have your own special tape made, since buell's wasn't good enough.
Jesus... Surprise that someone with such great knowledge has to ask this... (that was sarcasm)
It's a high temp cloth electrical tape.

I'm sure you will come up with a reason this is incorrect though....
The original tape in that place around the sleeves is plastic tape, not cloth. Do you know what exactly they used there?

That tape is only resistant to heat from European engines. Metric heat. It isn't made for American heat.
I use a special heat resistant scotch tape, it's cut from a 3-D printer then, sprayed with Seafoam at a precise angle of, yep you guessed it, 60°. It also has to be applied a 60°F or was that Celsius, well, try one and if it comes off, try the other.
P.S. almost forgot, very important, tape must be wound counter clockwise !
