However, I have seen more RC213's than I have EBR's on the street. And those are substantially more expensive than multiple EBR's or Lightnings.

Love them or hate them, but they are coming.

I'd probably never buy one, as the musical note of the exhaust and the vibration are all part of the experience of riding a motorcycle.

    Its still damn impressive.

Weren't the original 1190RS bikes in the neighborhood of $30-40k?

    168ft/lbs of torque!?!?! Gulp.

Do they make a 10 tooth rear sprocket?

100 mile average highway range with a 30-120 minute recharge? The only uses I can see for it would be to 1) keep it at the track, 2)Local riding only. Either way your gonna need a second motorcycle.

Still, if they can figure out how to get it to 200+ mph, it’s just a matter of time before they figure out how to improve the range. It won’t be for everyone, but motorcycles generally aren’t.

I test rode a Victory Empluse a few years ago at a test ride and loved it. I can definitely see owning an electric bike, particularly for running around town or commuting to work (although I work at home now). It would definitely take more planning to tour on one, but I'd assume most touring guys would own a dedicated bike for that.

Harley just bought a major stake in Alta, so we can see the direction they are going. Between the Livewire project and buying into Alta, its going to be a reality soon. I would love to get an Alta supermoto, but even with Alta dropping their prices by 30%, it's still out of my price range. Mainly because I already have too many bikes (XB12S, Suzuki DR650 & 1200S Bandit) to justify buying a new one.

I rode the Empulse before Victory bought it from Brammo. It was a fun ride and one of my favorite electric motorcycles.

Harley used Mission Motorcycles to prototype the Livewire, but since they went out of business they had to find a new partner. I think their super-bike was going to sell for $35K if I remember right.

That’s a good looking bike too.
