Using a wooden broom handle is way better ( in my opinion ) than using a screw driver as a stethoscope. When it got away from you while unloading it, what did it fall on ?

Well then, I'm pretty sure you could X that out as a possible cause, but it could still be the internals of the muffler. Something is rattling around, you just have to track it down.

You can probably “X” out the “compensator” as your bike doesn’t have one. Unless you swapped in a motor from a Dyna or something.

If your referring to the crank sprocket, I doubt it... unless you think when your bike hit the ground, it was able to undue the one bolt that is torqued down tighter than any other bolt on the bike... If you think it’s that then you should pull the primary and look. I’ve had that bolt come loose (or completely off) of some other bikes and it makes a lot more racket than that.

But remember the compensator on a big twin is different than the crank sprocket on a Sportster (based) motor.
