Hi Rsizemore. I only have a few hundred miles on the SA3s, so I can't say much about wear. And, I must admit that wear isn't my highest priority since I really only have time to ride for maybe a thousand miles a year if I'm lucky, so even if I only get a five thousand miles out of the tires, that is still 5 years worth of riding for me. So far I love them. To me they are very confidence inspiring and I like Continental's "TractionSkin" tech where the tires come with a slightly roughened surface which makes them breakin much faster. Best of luck with your tire choice!

I just put on a set of contimotions which are cheap but I like them so far. Was planning on going with Angel GTs but they would have been 3 times the price which I couldn't justify right now.

    Late to the party here.....
I have run ContiMotions on my wife's (previously mine) 06 xb9sx, and they were acceptable.
Nothing spectacular, IMHO, but a decent set of tires on a budget.

I am currently running Michelin Road 5s on my 07 XB12S, and am whole-heartedly in love.
I spent about 50 miles learning to trust them (previous owner had installed the worst set of Shinkos I have ever seen), and slowly started to put them through their paces.
They grip like an angry gorilla, take rough pavement like a cadillac, and hold the power down when I get a little giddy at launch.
Siping is outstanding for wet traction. (I live in Florida, where it NEVER rains.... *sarcasm*)
Multi-compound build with a firmer center for longer life, and sticky sides for cornering like a rocket sled on rails.

    TL;DR
    Road 5s are freaking incredible.

(I do not now, nor have I ever, work(ed) for Michelin, nor do I receive any compensation whatsoever for endorsing their product. I am simply beyond impressed with the performance of this particular set of tires.
