    De Potting a ECM

Hey Everyone, just wondering if anyone has experience of de potting and extracting the innards of a ECM. The ECM on my Uly developed an intermittant fault of losing power to the fuel pump and it looks like it's a dry joint at the back of the plugs. Anything I should know before I start tinkering?????. I have a new unit so this is for a spare. Cheers, Stu

I would download and save its program first. Then throw it away and buy a new one:

I get it though, if you just want to mess around I used the oven for even heat and checked the epoxy often. It was a slow painful annoying process, but once the wife said I could use the oven, the ECM thing was a failure too. Good luck man.

Cheers, Cooter, I got a near new unit off ebay at a good price so my old one is just a play around unit. Keen to get more experience with the electronic side of Buells. Stu

Na, I read you had another ECM.
It's just an empty box unless the program is right for your bike. Just making sure you keep the software that works in case the hardware monkeying goes south
