Unhappy New Battery: fan keeps running

I just installed a new battery but once i connected the battery the fan just keeps running?
That is the only power i get no lights unable to star or anything.
    What do I do?

Was your motor warm/hot after you replaced the battery? Please provide more info on your bike/year/model.

No was not hot Have not started XB12 SCG for a few month
so it would not start. tried to charge my battery but had to replace so i bought one now the only thing that runs is the fan
But i think this battery terminals are on the opposite sides of my original battery. but now my black?negative wire will
    not reach the terminal?

If you hook up the battery backwards without checking the (+) and (-) to the cables, it will do that.

just from what you've written you should NOT be working on motorcycles.
simply put you crossed your battery terminals. why is for you to determine. you now have moderate to serious damage.

like john stated if you don't know red goes to the plus and black goes to the minus then you shouldn't be touching your bike. that's a big mess up. probably fried a bunch of stuff. if your lucky it might just be a couple of relays. hope the ecm is all right. your last question what do I do- take to someone who knows what they are doing.

I'll have to resume the situation later today
So once i hook the battery correctly and if nothing works what is my next step?
I Appreciate all feedback Bad & Good.
    Thanks
