no thoughts on the sellers comments about the bad crank bearing? common, uncommon, red flag?

yes. i have one. that ebay-linked bike has lead a very hard life and has had the **** ran out of it. keep shopping. you're going to be cramped and miserable on a firebolt. Stt.....X....XT....Ss models much more comfy and roomy. and if you're expanding your horizons beyond Buell consider either a 650 or 1000 V-strom from 2012 up. incredible bullet-proof machines that do everything well....especially the 1000. my 2 right here.

I saw that bike on CL! I had reservations and I ended up buying the yellow 06 XB9. I’m super stoked.

I agree with lunatic, that bike has had a very hard life. I'm 6'1 and my last firebolt was not too comfy. At 6'4 you would be better off on an SS, which would be great for commuting.

A forum member in the bay area has his for sale, check it out. One owner, much better shape:

If its made it this long without a crank issue, it probably will be fine...

or if it does have a knock, its probably not the fault of a "bad crank bearing".. (at least from the factory)
