    Buell exhaust....I know I know

    Hi guys/gals.

I know exhausts are discussed a lot throughout here. But I am having a hard time finding current information. If a guy was looking for a new exhaust for a ageing 2008 xb9 pipe, where would he look? Any one offering aftermarket pipes still? What direction would you guys go? Thanks a lot!

Several guys I know are still building them daily. I'm one of them. Tuning for xb9's, I don't currently have anything set up yet. Most of my work has been for xb12's.

Hi Dean I emailed you today actually haha. Who else do you know working on pipes. Have we seen GB lately? When would you expect to have something for a 9?

Tuning is the only issue on mine for various xb9 models. The exhaust has shown proven gains, it's just a matter of getting the calibrations done on them. IDSPD can only do so much and they've only got their personal xb12 on hand as far as I know. Getting a 9 done requires multiple years to get a baseline calibration for each one. Unfortunately, it costs real money to do each one, I can only afford to do them one at a time. I've done 1125's, 1190's and xb12's so far with most years covered. I don't have a 9 on hand to work with for wideband calibration currently, so it's a slow and expensive process. I've done some testing a while back (4-5 years ago?) that showed a decent gain (8-9 hp?) but never pursued it beyond the basic setup. IDS is where I have all my calibrations done now, so it will take a while to get it done.

IMO, 'most' bikes respond well to the regular Buell "race tune" with any aftermarket muffler combo. Jardine, Barker, Drummer, Buelltooth, and even Deans awesome pieces.

No, it probably won't eek out every last available hp of your 9, but it's easy, should be plenty safe, and run very well. You can dive into datalogging and fine tuning if you wish, but with that combo I rarely see an AFV more than 5% off on a mechanically sound Buell.

Since Dean and IDS don't have what you need check out Buelltooth.com or maybe Buellmods.com for some tuning options.
