    Cooling Fan Swap

FYI if you are looking to replace the fan. It appears the original fan is not available. At least at the moment.

I just changed out the failing unit in my '08 with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

The old one had a 2008 date code, and the bike has 68K miles on it. Pretty good service - especially in the conditions it served in!

As described elsewhere, the original mount is cut in three places, the fan motor worked out of it, and the replacement motor installed.

I'd recommend doing it when the plastic is warm, as you bend the legs (which are probably at least ten years old) a good bit.

I just cut and spliced the old plug to the new leads, using as much of both as possible - the original is too short, IMHO.

The mount swap didn't take but a few minutes. The 'get-to-it' and 'get-out' process, combined with cleaning and other nitpicking, took a lot longer.
