My 04 xb12r has high idle speed, detonation, and glassy spots on the spark plugs. What should be done to eliminate this.

What have you done to diagnose it?

Change your intake seals (lean condition) and new plugs. Verify correct calibration for the ecm/exhaust combination.

I bought the bike with a modified stock mufler. Supposed to be less back pressure now can I use my laptop to check the ecm/exhaust calibration and where do I learn how it's done?

You need ECMspy and a communication cable to use your laptop.
OR, ecmdroid, an android device, and a Bluetooth dongle.

Do a little google searching and you’ll find infinite info on both.

I’m no tech expert so this is where my knowledge hits the rev limiter on this subject.
