New here, Error codes?? Some help?

    Hello everybody

I had a X1 15 years ago and now i bought me a -08 Lightning and i am (were) very happy.

I had take it for two rides and put it in the garage.
Today when i started it the check Engine lamp whent on.

Checked the codes and it says:
    21: Muffler Control
    43: Speed sensor

I cleaned the speedo sensor and it works but i get the fault code anyway??

And muffler Control? I have looked but everything seems right.

Can i ride the bike anyway? What could happened?
Is there a way to "reset" the bike? Take away the battery or something?

    Txs for some help

You can clear CEL's with a Buelltooth but you also need an Android device to work with it. I would clean all the grounds, no matter what they look like, that's a good start.
This is from another thread and someone else wrote the following,
" ECMDroid is free on Google play and a good diagnostic tool "

Ok i´ll check all the grounds.

I have read that it could be old gas or low battery, i have put new gas and charged battery so thats not a problem.

I´m gonna order a Buelltooth but it comes from Usa and i live in Sweden so i have to wait a few weeks to get it.

I tried the bike and the only thing i notised is that its not so good in lower speed but i think its because the muffler control.
Can i ride the bike anyway? I dont think anything will be damage?

The ECM takes an amount of mileage and a number of key switch cycles to clear codes by itself. NO need to trick it into clearing them earlier.

If the IEV is the only code, riding it will be fine, but you shouldn't notice the lack of mid-range torque, it will seem to run well.

Do you have stock exhaust on it? Most aftermarket exhausts don't have the valve and will cause the code, you'll need to use ECMDroid to mask it so the light goes out.

If it is a stock muffler, Can you move the valve by hand? If you remove the airbox cover can you move the actuator by hand? Both are known to stick and will cause that CEL. A new actuator is about $150 here in the USA, cheaper used on e-bay, but our esteemed LunaticFringe on here has a repair if you are a handy kind of person.

I have stock exhaust and i can move the valve by hand.
BUT i gonna change to a aftermarket exhaust and K&N airfilter.
I have ordered the Buelltooth so i gonna do all properly done.

But i cant understand 43: Speed sensor code, my speedo works fine so why the code?
