brake light only works on front brake, no rear signal to light

Both the front and rear brakes work, and the brake light operates normal when I use the front hand brake. The rear pedal does not send a signal to operate the brake light. After looking it over, I think the wire is broken inside the insulated wire, right at the top of the "banjo bolt" on the top of the master cylinder behind the right heel guard. I have not started to take anything apart yet, but I was wondering what the best fix for this will be? Can I repair the wiring or do I need to get new parts?

    Thanks Cooter!

it looks like I can detach the end of this cable, and remove it at the banjo bolt without needing to remove the entire master cylinder and heel guard....
    is that correct?
Or is there a good reason to go through the extra effort?

Ya the banjo bolt IS the switch. Don't forget to bleed it. Good luck and happy riding!
