    primary vent,same as dredd?

my new/ old09 xb12ss has that hose behind the oil vent just 2" long and sticking up w/ wet and dirt inside,Manual only shows a line going up at the shock,my shock's all alone. is that a pcv type vent or in/out,? think I need a hose going up or a one way valve cause off road, water crossings are in my future

    Wut?

A vent hose long enough to go from that fitting to loop around the top of the shock (zip tie) should be enough for almost 3 FEET of water crossing. You can get a low pressure check valve for that purpose, but seems over kill to me. Look in Off-road Jeep stores, Grainger, McMaser, Fastenal, Napa, Ace, for a 3/8" 2psi check valve.

25892279 appears to be the GM part #.

You gotta READ man! The 1 star reviews are because they get ONE in the bag not 5 like the pic. Apparently they didn't read either...lol

Yes, that GM part is perfect. Run it as high as you can, but remember your Buell ain't a submarine!

Just like 34:19 said, experienced off-roaders know it's better to add a smart little mod than have water in your primary or crankcase

It’s a pretty simple part, but does a decent job keeping water out of the diff and trans vents. When I was doing the rockcrawling thing back in my Toyota days, we all fitted those vents to our rigs, and made sure they were as high on the frame as possible.

NEVER EVER install any "valve" or other sort of device either onto or attached to the primary/trans vent tube.
why? because the OEM vent tube is not only a vent but allows the air pressure between the trans cavity and primary cavity to balance each other and not only equalize but balance pressures to atmospheric. installing a one-way valve eliminates this function and is an eventual trans/primary death-sentence.

I did read it, it still got more negs than pos, the fact that the seller had a misleading pic, doesn't change the fact, you've been in Cali too long, time for another mover, come to N.J. I can guarantee you'll hate it !
