A headlamp! Man those are priceless!

I'm normally a beer guy too, but I'll pack a flask for trips. Yeti type vacuum insulators that hold a whole can work really well. Put the rest in that icy stream and don't fall in when getting #6 out of the water

Ha that's funny, Cooter--Well it would wake one up enough to make another run to the beer store, I guess.

Thinking about Bike trips across Country back in the day, low on bucks and heavy on mission. Riding into the night and making do--a freshly mown field in the moonlight, pile up some Hay and crawl in all standing. First light--get a hundred miles or so in before coffee.

Get your riding buddy to carry the beer for you. Like in The Eiger Sanction.

If you're not by water how does one do dishes? Just bring extra water?

You could wipe them as clean as possible then use a dish cleaning wipe as a sanitizer. If you use cast iron you wipe, then wipe again with salt. It's not usual to camp where there is no water supply, mostly for one's own safety.

Dishes?--Must be travelling on a trike or with a sidecar. I do carry a ceramic cup, nice for coffee and two small plastic plates.
