It sounds like your Harley dealer does not have access to the internet or the google search function. A little effort and the answer could be at hand.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have a specific question I hope you can hep with.
I live in Scotland and have a much loved XB12SS Lightning Long, which I love.
I had a yellow warning came on the dashboard and booked it in to the Glasgow Harley dealership because local garages told me they didn't;t have any Buell diagnostic equipment (unsurprisingly).
I drove 110 miles to the dealership today, got the bike serviced - BUT they couldn't;t get the bike and the diagnostic computer to talk to each other.
Result is - I drove home and the warning light is still on. They were unable to tell me why it's on, and they couldn't put it off.
The Harley dealership speculated that in a recent upgrade to their systems - maybe a month ago, H-D may have stopped supporting Buell diagnostics since they get so few Buells in for service these days.
No idea if that's true - but what I guess is that if H-D main dealers can't diagnose my warning light issue, then no-one else can either.
So am I destined to always have a warning light on my bike forever more?
Jeez!
Any help or advice most gratefully received.
Thanks!

Buy a Buelltooth, diagnose your own bike.

Too bad for you then, join the darkside and get a droid.
All you need is someone's old droid phone that they're not using anymore.
All you need to do is short the 1 and 2 pins on the diagnostic dongle and read the blinks. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buel...77/146574.html

Sir: the links that Greg put up will show you how to cross pin numbers 1&2 to read your active fault codes.
the vid below will give you visual idea of how they appear if any active. i believe this method also reveals stored historical codes but not positive. but it works quite well once you understand the sequence.
if the bike is operating normally in a fashion you're accustomed to...then in all likelihood fault code #16
you failed to mention the YEAR of your XB...but if it's 2003-2007...and you have access to a PC or laptop...i can send you over my CD of ECM-SPY and the patch cable to connect the device to your XB diagnostic plug, which is under the seat near the battery. then run full diagnostics...do appropriate repairs...clear all historicals...and of course return the gizmos to me.
Thank You Barrett - I really appreciate your kind offer. My XB is a 2008 25th Anniversary edition, so probably just outside the parameters of your 2003-7 fix. I think I'll go with the Buelltooth option - I'm too much of a clumsy amateur to be trying to short out pins in the diagnostic plug I fear! 😁👍
