I was never a fan of those Lefty forks. Too hard finding wheelsets that would fit. I suspect it continues to be a good looking marketing ploy from Cannondale.
Maybe you engineers could chime in. A one sided fork just looks inherently weaker, with all that torque acting on the single wheel hub attachment. Though I suppose in the linear direction of compression/rebound it's more stable, especially as you don't have to worry about two fork legs remaining perfectly parallel to each other.
