Cooters tip... just the tip
Bought a bike that came with a Hawk exhaust. Its a fine enough unit and I'll keep it for now but I just couldn't stand the tiny thin exits and (IMO) bubblegum welds. I don't mean to talk trash, I'm sure theres plenty of Hawk fans around and I think it would hold together, but I'm just not happy with mine
Off they go! I hope you appreciate the action shot, I was by myself.

That didn't really work cleanly enough so the porta-band got the call

Look Ma. Nothing. I do like the valve still in there. We'll see...

Making one is easy. Making a second one, by hand, that matches is a little harder. Mark and cut a little big:

Do a wire wheel 'polish' while you still have some material to hold on too:

and cut to length.

Now what to do with them crooked fugly holes? I could have ground them all the way with a carbide tip, but cheated for time a little with the Plazma cutter. My favorite tool! (behind a hammer of course).

and after marking mostly symmetrical circles, used the bit for a smooth edge.

Its important to have smooth transitions in exhaust systems, especially at the tip. Not for any performance reasons, but you can get a snappy pop when the exhaust pulses hit it. Think about how fishtails sound on a Harley
I want this to sound as deep and mellow as I can so I opened the holes up to the new 2.25" tip size.

With so many weird angles and shapes, sometimes you just gotta eyeball it.
