Pic is our backyard. We do the maintenance here. Places like Lake Sonoma where the general public can ride is very neglected due to lack of funds and honestly, don't miss the place. In the early 90's there used to be mtn bike races there we did. Good fun, very hard. Lake Sonoma is now basically a junkyard. Effing boaters who bring it in but don't bring it out. Trashed campsites, garbage everywhere. Honestly can't see it being enjoyable spending a weekend there with garbage everywhere. It's a shame peep's brings there kids out there and teach em' how to eff up a good thing.

Now back to positive. If I can loose 10 more pounds I might be able to get up the hills a bit faster. I've also got some new mtn bike shoes headed my way.

    Wow. Thats pretty awesome!

What shoes did you get? I've tried most, but keep coming back to Shimano.

Have you noticed how much the new Unicoi looks like a Moots MX Divide? Even though I'm a Moots fan boy, I do like the idea of the Unicoi, but my fave Ti bike is a Seven Duo Lux (aka Maverick...RIP)

Ooohhh, that's some nice bike porn there [drool, drool, drool].

The Unicoi is actually a beautiful bastard child, as it's a Litespeed frame that licensed the Moots YBB shock.

Yes Maverick made some cool bikes, and especially overbuilt forks. Didn't they have some of the first USD forks for mtn bikes? I didn't know enough about motorcycles back then to appreciate how cool that was.

I mentioned it on another old thread - prices for these upper echelon frames are insane. Crazy that just the frame for that Unicoi is more expensive than most Buells out there.

There were some other USD forks before the Maverick, such as the terrible Marzocchi Shivers. I cant remember, but I think my White Brothers DH fork was also USD. One of my DH bikes had a Marzocchi Monster fork on it... now that was a beast.

(note: please do not assume that although I owned DH bikes that I can actually ride DH - LOL!)

Cheapest one's I could find. Giros $100. Most if not all of our riding off road isn't as serious as it once was. Road bike shoes are Sidi's. What' the ****'s these days is both me and my wife are battling hot foot right at the 30 mile mark.

Speaking of ti, my roads bike a Custom Bianchi Matta.

Dang. You guys ride some nice bikes. I've only had one Ti bike and it was a Lemond Tete de Course... and it was only 1/2 Ti (1/2 carbon spine bike). However, my new mountain bike reveal is going to be in about 10 days.

I sometimes get hot spots, but its usually when I ride a pedal with a small platform (like an Eggbeater) on a shoes with a cheap sole. I still ride Crank Bros pedals, but I'm finally out of Eggs. Mostly its the OG Candy pedals and I'm just tossing them now as they break/wear out.

Boom! I remember Big Red now.

Some of the Maverick forks didnt pass the "showroom stiffness test" where someone would straddle the front wheel between their legs and move the handlebars left and right and watch the flexxxing happen. Of course, this was simulating a dynamic that would really never happen in actual riding unless you were crashing, but it didnt help when selling a ML7 or ML8. I heard they built a carbon version, but never saw it outside of a magazine.... and then they were gone!

Speaking of flexxxxxy. I dont know who would have ever thought this was a good idea. I've only seen one in real life and it was on a Trek VRX. I thought it was a joke.

It warms my heart to see so much love for pedal power. The rest of the forum is probably rolling their eyes at our love of 0.2hp machines.

Outthere - a Bianchi Matta!?! I had never even heard of that before, but that sure is purdy. Wow. Clean lines.
About the hot spots in your shoes, have your tried systems with a lot of float like the Speedplay Frogs or Crank Brother Eggbeaters? Maybe some rotation room for your ankles may help.

Aaron - here's a good one for old time's sake. I had it on my GT STS THERMOPLASTIC bike, and thought it was the dopest look on the planet. Weighed a ton though, and rode like crap. But as long as you look good!
