Fu$:! Shift rod linkage snapped when riding. Was this aftermarket?
While riding today, tried shifting and felt the rod snapped. Only had this bike for less than a year. Not sure if this was original part or aftermarket that the original owner had put on. Please let me know.

Na, thats stock, and yes they are super cheesy. So is the shifter pivot bolt and typically breaks right off for any more lay overs.
Typically, I'll drill and tap the primary for a larger shoulder bolt and use it in the pivot without the reducing sleeve that comes in there. For the rod, you can source that tiny rod end from Mc-master/Carr, Grainger, and race shop, Amazon, or e-bay. Its the RH thread that you need.
OR nows your chance to just replace the whole shift rod assembly with a dyno jet 'pull' sensor and have a quick shifter. '08 and up and all you need is to access the ECM and turn on the shifter feature=done. Heck, the wiring is already right there too.

Since you have a Ulysses, a complete link assembly is still available new for about $40 from SPHD. You could probably get one from your local Harley dealer (bring the part #).

I got one manufactured here in USA California for $48 . Hope it’s a lot stronger

Loc-tite the 10-32 bolts.
I have no idea why that very important part is where they decided to shave a few grams from the total motorcycle weight And a tiny 10-32 upper bolt in single shear? Oh Puh-leeze. Buell shifters are a total after thought:

#1 is an early 'Tuber" Buell
#2 is correct
#3 is poor man's GP shift
