    XB9S Dash Reset Button

    Hi all.

    I have a 2003 XB9S. One day the reset button on the clocks stopped working, so I am unable to reset trips or set my clock. I have replaced the switch with a momentary latching tactile switch almost identical to the original, but that does not work either. I am quite capable of soldering, so I doubt it's a dry joint.

    Has anyone experienced anything similar? I know it's a stupid problem to have, but it is annoying nonetheless.

    The dash cluster switches marked M and R were addressed on 7-15-2003 as part of a dealer ICP notice. Their failure rate was rare and sporadic so NO recall ever issued.
    Dealer notice B054: Intermittent or total failure of dash M/R buttons replace entire cluster under specific warranty parameter.

    And NO...it has absolutely nothing to do with wiring harness....positive main red wire feed.....fuses....grounds...battery condition...voltage present.

    Replace your dash cluster.

    Barrett is totally right (as usual) If you do replace the dash, be aware the odometer reading is contained in the dash itself, so find one with the closest reading you can. There is no re-set for that, it is contained in a 'count-up' chip. You could take the time to solder in your old one but seems a little overzealous to me.

    If you want to continue diagnosis, probe both sides of the switch you put on and see if you get continuity when you press it. If you don't... get another switch, if you do... the problem is somewhere else, so get a magnifying glass out! And it's a monetary switch, not a "latching" switch.

    Thanks guys.

    I'm fully aware of the odo counter. I don't want to replace the dash, I just wondered if anyone else ever experienced this. I have already replaced the momentary switch, but maybe it was a bad switch to begin with. I'll get another and see what happens.

    Thanks for the insight regarding the dealer notice. Interesting to know.
