oil leak XB12X Ulysses
Hello friends! I discovered an oil leak on this hose. The photo shows that it goes into the gearbox. How can you check the oil level in it? and what should be done? Replace the entire hose?IMG_5685.jpg

If memory serves correctly. There is an o ring on it. To check the oil you need to remove the cover. Be careful because there is a spring behind it. You will need to loosen the cable, to disconnect it from the clutch. Once you do the just unscrew it from the primary cover. I recommend disconnecting it from the clutch lever as well. Just don't over tighten it when you reinstall it. It can break easily. Get a hold of a shop manual. I believe they can still be found on this site for download.

What Josh said.
If you actually believe this is a "hose" that enters the "gearbox" then you have no business whatsoever attempting any repairs or maintenance on this motorcycle. Seek out local help well versed in Harley Davidson Sportsters.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! This was my first "Buell lesson" after buying my Ulysses. You may not even want to use a wrench...just saying...

You are going to need a workshop manual to help you out because while you are fixing the oil leak on your Clutch Cable you will need to adjust your primary chain tensioner and clutch free play.
